Check out the pod about how they did not even do an official investigation into the Steven Keith death in custody. He was a white American man.

Dear Jenn;

Thank you for your podcast.

These are the atrocities we hear about years later in a documentary, a well researched book, or film. And when we hear, read, or view the old stories, we satisfy ourselves with the false belief that this kind of violent racism no longer occurs.

Clearly it does but because the targets are black or brown, the government will demonize them to justify illegal and harsh behavior.

I am a former employee of the AFGE, the federal trade union that represents border federal employees. AFGE has a Border Patrol Sector, similar to its VA sector, that has its own Officers and sits on the AFGE’s Executive Council. It is well known there is not a lot of solidarity with AFGE and The Border Patrol Union.

I just wonder if this case of Ray’s murder shouldn’t be shared with AFGE National office, particularly given the role of the BP Union Vice-President’s statements on the podcast you mentioned where it appeared he was trying to influence a future jury or court of law. I can’t imagine this behavior is allowed in AFGE but, then again, as with so many unwilling alliances, AFGE may not wish to confront their own Border Patrol executives.

Thank you for you work. I will keep listening,

The best way to get rid of the union is to just use the existing law that does not allow unions for agencies designated as “security agencies.” This is 5 USC 7112(b)(6). Trump gave them this designation during the first term. I am working on a piece of why they is so important.

Can someone please let CBP know that they have to order, pay and wait for their thin mints, just like everybody else? Seriously, though. WTH is going on with this agency. All of those men, equipment and arms to terrify little girls and their mothers? Shameful.

I am so sorry for this woman who tragically lost her uncle. How brave she is to speak out, against these agents who murdered him. It is absolutely a huge coverup, not only with them “cleaning up” the scene, collecting any evidence of the crime that they committed, but to show an edited version of the video, rather than the actual footage of the body-cam. How terrifying it must be, knowing that if they need help, the only people they can call are the ones who murdered her uncle and covered up the crime. For this Border Patrol to come rushing out to surround Girl Scouts , when no one called them, I wonder if they are monitoring the area by satellite, and just saw a large gathering of people. If they were surprised when they got there, by who it actually was, then they must not have been able to clearly identify them ahead of time. I’m sure that day is coming, though. The corruption in these agencies runs so deep, no wonder people don’t trust them.

And Jenn, people should take note of the delay between the actual event and any public statements that deal with police behavior. This is so the situation can be analyzed as what body cams and video shows, statements of bystanders, etc. Police make sure that their written statements and reports all agree and that they explain any discrepancies between what you thought you saw and heard and what their explanation will be. They have always had no problem lying in order to make their explanations fit the situation and that they fully exonerate police. “I was in fear for my life”, I imagine this statement is etched in their minds from training onwards.
