This interview was conducted in February 2023. It is the only interview where I discuss my personal experiences of being hazed into the agency by rape. Erin Siegel McIntyre and I have worked separately off and on for years documenting the Border Patrol’s rape culture. You will not hear her voice on this interview as this is my personal recording. She chose not to publish this interview, and I feel it is important to documenting this culture. Please see her work here and here. Erin exposed that the US Border Patrol has allowed the sexual assault of many female agents at their academies. This includes the first Latina Border Patrol agent in 1975. Twenty years later the same happened to me.
I have dedicated the rest of my life to telling the truth about the rape culture of the US Border Patrol. This culture extends to migrants and children. I use my trauma and the trauma I dished out as an agent to educate and try and make changes to these systems.
